Canoe Days Out

Surrey - Wey Navigation - New Haw (Addlestone) to Town Lock Weybridge & return

This page was submitted by David Dooley (E-mail this submitter)
How to get there - From Junction 11 on the M25 head towards Chertsey. Then take the A 318 to New Haw. At the southern end of New Haw the A 318 goes left at a round-a-bout and over the canal bridge. Immediately after the bridge look for the car park on the right. There is a height restriction of about 2 metres. (map)

Suggested Launch Site - The linear car park runs along the side of the canal towards the lock and bridge. Park towards the far end. Boats need to be carried north over the A318. Take great care crossing. Launch on the east side of the canal.

General Description - Paddle north past the mill pond and nature reserve to Cox's Mill and Cox's Lock. (You should not shoot the weir unless you and your boat are suitable and you have a hard hat). Portage the lock on the right side. Carry on northwards to the Town Lock.

You can turn round here for a 3.5 mile one portage trip, or go on to Thames Lock and the Thames. (route)
