Canoe Days Out

Surrey - Wey Navigation - New Haw (Addlestone) to Newark Lock & return

This page was submitted by David Dooley (E-mail this submitter)
How to get there - From Junction 11 on the M 25 head towards Chertsey. Turn right on the A318 to New Haw. At the far end of New Haw the A318 goes right at a round-a-bout and then over the canal bridge. After the bridge look for the car park on the right. There is a height restriction of about 2 metres. (map)

Suggested Launch Site - Park towards the far end of the linear car park. Launch to the left of the lock.

General Description - Head south. Keep straight on at the junction with the Basingstoke Canal. Continue south to Pyrford Lock. You can stop here at the Anchor pub/restaurant.

Alternatively portage the lock on the left. Continue through Walsham Flood Gates in the main branch to Newark Lock, near the remains of a priory.

You can stop and picnic here for a 9 mile round trip with two portages. (route)

Or carry on for a longer trip.
