How to get there - A3078 in centre of St Mawes (map)
Suggested Launch Site - Slipway on east side of harbour, just seaward of the car park (pay-and-display). The harbourmaster asks to keep the west side of the harbour for the ferry.
General
Description - A winding creek leading up into the Roseland peninsula ('Rose' in Cornish = 'Heath'). Less wooded than the Upper Fal, but still with the same steep hills dropping into the creek. About 5 miles return.
The top of the creek dries out at low tide, so start about an hour before high tide at Falmouth if planning on the full distance. The first few hundred yards is exposed to the southwest, and if the wind increases, it should be possible to land on the promenade round the corner (1/2 mile up the creek) to avoid rough waves. St Mawes Castle at the other end of the town to the harbour is a gem!
