Hertfordshire - Grand Union Canal - Cow Roast near Tring to End of the Wendover Arm

How to get there - (map)

Suggested Launch Site - There is car parking on the verge and the road near the lock cottage at Cow Roast. It is a very short portage beyond the lock to an easy put in.

General Description - Cow Roast Lock marks the beginning of the Tring summit level so there are no locks on this trip. After passing a marina, the canal enters Tring Cutting, a very peaceful and wooded stretch. Just past the Grand Union Arms at Bulbourne take the Wendover Arm which leaves under a footbridge on the left. The Wendover Arm is being restored and at present it ends about a mile beyond the junction with the Grand Union. The round trip is about 8 miles. (route)
