Suggested Launch Site - Bankside launch above bridge on non-tidal section.
General
Description - Basically from Rye into the middle of open countryside, as far as you want to go. If the sluice gates on to the tidal section are closed (as is usually the case), there is no current, and you can probably get 2 or 3 miles upstream before it gets too shallow.
Recommended for early season, before the growth of man-eating blanket weed! The tidal section has strong currents and lots of mud and should be avoided.
Thought to have ancient navigation rights, as the tide used to run up the river before flood gates were put in. (route)
