How to get there - Recommended roadside parking on B2162 just over canal bridge east of Yalding station. From here you can put in below or above the lock, and parking is free. The better known car park on Yalding Lees by the weir is for those who want to get straight in the water and play in the sluice outflow. (map)
Suggested Launch Site - The Medway here is in a canal cut. Easy bankside put in from portage points either above lock (for East Peckham) or below lock (for Teston)

Description - 7 miles return to Teston Lock (route); 6 miles return to Oak Weir Lock (one intermediate lock) (route)
A generally wide open valley with little development except in East Peckham itself.
East Peckham was the place where the first speeding summons in Britain was issued, in 1896, Mr Arnold being fined one shilling for doing 8 mph.
