Canoe Days Out

Aberdeenshire - River Don - Monymusk to Inverurie

This page was submitted by Jim Thornton (E-mail this submitter)
How to get there - From the B993 turn into, and drive straight through, Monymusk village. About half a mile outside the village to the north the road crosses the Don. (map)

Suggested Launch Site - Launch from the left bank just downstream of the bridge.

General Description - Twelve miles of easy paddling with good flow and many small rapids. We saw otters on the first section.

There is a broken weir near Burnhervie which merits inspection. It is an easy portage left, but we shot it OK.

In Inverurie land left between the bypass (A96) bridge and the old road bridge. (map) (route)
